How a rancher is restoring native grasslands of Texas for her son

(Trailer above, film coming soon!)

Meredith Ellis has witnessed firsthand how regenerative agriculture can breathe new life onto her family's ranch. Through sustainable grazing practices, Meredith's unconventional path to create a nurturing environment for her son, and to leave a better planet for him, has re-established a polyculture of native grasses and plants. The lush pastures are filled with the buzz of pollinating insects, and shy wildlife like deer, armadillos, and coyotes. This is in stark contrast to many of the grazing lands seen around Texas, where the grasses have been grazed down to dry yellow stubs.

Our film documents a slice of Meredith's life, as she balances the demands of being the best mother for her young son, operating her ranch sustainably, and growing the movement for regenerative ranching through her work with the Integrity Beef Alliance which recently received $30 million from the USDA to develop protocols for transitioning ranches to regenerative practices. We hope viewers can better understand the challenges facing modern family-run ranches like hers and what drives Meredith towards regenerative practices.
